Trading card collections are displayed in several different holder formats. Some collectors use professionally graded slabs, while others prefer rigid magnetic holders such as One Touch cases.
The holder protecting the card determines which display system is appropriate, which is why The Card Collective® separates its ranges by holder type.
CardVault® refers to the broader trading card display collection, while SlabVault® and MagVault® identify display ranges created for graded slabs and One Touch magnetic holders.
Whether you collect Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, sports cards or another TCG, this guide explains the difference between the three ranges and how to choose the right one.
What Is CardVault®?
CardVault® by The Card Collective® is the broader collection of trading card display solutions offered across the store.
It brings together display systems for professionally graded slabs and cards protected in compatible magnetic holders.
A major part of the CardVault® range is the collection of aluminium trading card display frames, available across multiple grid sizes, holder formats and frame finishes depending on the selected product.
What Is SlabVault®?
SlabVault® by The Card Collective® is the dedicated display range for professionally graded trading card slabs.
SlabVault® options are available for major grading formats including:
- PSA
- CGC
- BGS
Because grading-company holders are not identical in size, the display should be matched to the slab format selected rather than assuming one insert will suit every grading company.
The range can be used for compatible graded cards from Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, sports cards and other trading card collections.
Multiple grid sizes allow collectors to display anything from a single graded card to much larger wall-mounted slab collections.
What Is MagVault®?
MagVault® by The Card Collective® is the dedicated display range for trading cards protected in compatible One Touch magnetic holders.
Many collectors prefer keeping ungraded cards in rigid magnetic holders while still displaying them as part of a larger collection. MagVault® provides a purpose-built wall display format for that use.
One Touch holders are available in different thicknesses, so the selected holder format should always be checked against the product configuration before ordering.
MagVault® display frames are available across multiple grid sizes and frame finishes depending on the selected configuration.
SlabVault® vs MagVault®: What's the Difference?
The difference is the holder protecting the trading card.
Choose SlabVault® if your cards are professionally graded and sealed in compatible PSA, CGC or BGS slabs.
Choose MagVault® if your cards are protected in compatible One Touch magnetic holders.
Both ranges are designed around organised wall display, but each uses a different insert format because graded slabs and magnetic holders have different dimensions.
Aluminium Trading Card Display Frames
The Card Collective® specialises in aluminium trading card display frames, offering a slimmer and more rigid alternative to more traditional picture-frame styles.
Aluminium works particularly well across larger multi-card layouts because the outer frame can remain relatively slim while supporting a much larger overall display.
Depending on the selected product, frame finishes are available across a broad range of colours, allowing collectors to choose a finish that suits the cards and surrounding room.
Display sizes range from compact arrangements through to very large multi-card grids designed for substantial collections.
Pokémon, MTG, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece & Sports Card Displays
SlabVault® and MagVault® are organised around the holder protecting the card rather than one particular trading card game.
This means the ranges can suit compatible cards from collections including:
- Pokémon
- Magic: The Gathering (MTG)
- Yu-Gi-Oh!
- One Piece Card Game
- Sports cards
- Other compatible trading cards and TCGs
For example, a collector with PSA-graded Pokémon cards would choose a compatible SlabVault® configuration, while a collector displaying MTG cards in One Touch magnetic holders would look toward MagVault®.
From Small Displays to Large Collection Walls
Collections vary enormously in size, which is why The Card Collective® offers formats ranging from individual cards through to large multi-card wall displays.
Smaller frames work well for favourite individual cards or compact groups, while larger grids allow many cards to be kept together within one structured display.
Collectors can also combine multiple frames over time if they prefer a more modular approach to expanding the collection.
Which Trading Card Display Should You Choose?
Start by identifying the holder protecting your cards.
For PSA, CGC or BGS graded slabs, choose the appropriate SlabVault® format.
For cards protected in One Touch magnetic holders, choose the appropriate MagVault® format.
For the broader collection of trading card display solutions from The Card Collective®, explore CardVault®.
The important part is matching the display to the holder format, collection size and wall space rather than choosing a frame based only on card count.
